Overview
This course is an intensive study of United States History from the early exploration of the North American continent through the radical reconstruction of the South, following the Civil War. We will cover major themes such as colonization, the American Revolution, the Constitution, and the Civil War. We will cover these themes in great detail and analyze a variety of primary source documents and secondary source readings to enhance your understanding of the content material. We will also examine political cartoons, newspapers, literature, etc.

This course will also require a significant amount of critical reading, writing, and analytical thinking. This course will also develop those skills necessary to arrive at conclusions on the basis of an informed judgement and to present reasons and evidence clearly and persuasively in essay fromat.
